COVID-19 Challenging Parenting Skills

Now that schools are out and kids are home, there are many parents having a very difficult time adjusting to the “new norm.” Managing school, providing meals and working remotely all while keeping the home clean and in one piece can prove to be quite challenging- not just for you, but most parents.
COVID-19 has forced parents to hone in on their parenting skills. This challenge and amount of time with your kids will expose the effectiveness of your parenting skills. This situation surfaces the true depths (or lack of) relationships you have with your children.
It is imperative to examine the foundation of your heart in parenting. Your parenting skills will determine the relationships you are sowing now and reap later with your kids.
Here are some challenging questions to ask yourself:
-Does my child/teen listen to me when I speak to them?
-Do I repeat myself more than I should?
-Am I becoming angry with my kid(s) more often?
-Has it been difficult to manage my child’s/teen’s misbehavior?
-Do I know my child/teen’s love language?
-Which techniques am I using for parenting in my home?
-Who is evaluating me and holding me accountable as a parent?
-Are my parenting goals defined?
